I was kindly (?) asked by my friends to prepare an English (per?)version of our pages and since then my life became a nightmare...
Well that is mostly because our activity is quite difficult explain (and understand) even in Polish.
So in the beginning please forgive me, I know that I will make a lot of mistakes (who doesn't?) and that my accent
is not perfect but believe me... I am doing my best (even if it is not good enough).
So, PUPA Divers is a group of dedicated Polish divers who do not have a very conventional attitude to diving. On our pages we will try to promote strange (but safe) underwater activities. Divers are born with many of the skills that we promote but we try to help them to realize that those skills are in them and that they should not be ashamed of them ;).
We are like Chinese people's medicine (not always pleasant but definitely sure of being effective).
And now a few facts from our history. We decided to establish an association when we accepted the fact that all trials to find Nessie in Loch Ness failed. Simply because we realized that if you can not do something impossible, you can at least do something else equally stupid. We know divers who behave just as Nessie and we love them. What would diving be without Human Nessies? Where would our civilization be if everyone was reasonable and normal?
Now a few words about our organization:
Our structure is based on:
Board of Very Important Directors
Program Council
Choir of Old Men
And then to make the picture clearer we wanted to choose a President of PUPA Divers. There was a meeting, voting and finally Mr. Oum The White Dolphin was elected as our President. He won the voting with Nessie by only 2 votes (probably the most decisive argument was that Nessie will not be able to attend our meetings while the spirit of Oum is always with us, or maybe it was just the effect of breathing gas mix that we used? Who knows...? now we hardly remember anything).
Now when we have presented our organization, a few words about what we do.
We dive of course when it is only possible (and sometimes even when it is not), but we also organize trainings and courses.
Our courses include:
"Scratching the ice with bare hands trying to get out of the air hole"
"The meanings of Indian symbols under water"
"Simple connection between frog kick and kicking the frog"
"Methods of mud moving in Polish underwater conditions"
"How to recognize the difference between diving in warm salty water full of fishes and keeping your head in a pot full of fish soup"
We also plan to publish diving hand-books:
"300 good reasons to leave you home (and woman) to go for a dive"
"Using alcohol based gas mixes in theoretical parts of diving courses"
"Growing role of fast food bars in improving of thermal comfort in dry suits"
Well so far we produced a few guide-films. Unfortunately some of the versions are only in Polish, so you could only see what is shown, not what is written. As one says one picture is worth more than 1000 words...
We would be more than grateful if you write us your comments, opinions or ideas. Now we are PUPA but we can always became IUPA Divers simply replacing word Polish with word International...
Just click here
Now it is time to present our achievements...
FILMS:
We are sorry for the poor quality of picture but we have tried to compress these films as much as possible for internet use. If you want them in better quality write to us and we can send them by mail or simply by post on cd
The first film was taken in Croatia where we managed to film the fight of two ugly underwater monsters...
The second film is about the ways of wearing fins during underwater trekking...
The next short film is about a lost ducklet...very sad story about a ducklet that was lost and left by friends... in a very hostile area...
And now it is time for a few films in Polish... well it might be a good Polish lesson for some of you guys (and I do believe that such a lesson can be fun). Films themselves are pure pictures with music. Only the text is in Polish but we must learn to live with rough translations...
So, next movie is a story about ways of hunting for the tin. What you can read (but probably can not understand) are steps to catch the tin, first is to get the weapon, second to surround the tin and third to hit using series of hits and finally to cook it on the fire...
next movie is about techniques that we use for moving under ice. We show such techniques as: myope technique, blind technique, lost bat technique and finally the road runner technique...
following movie shows two different ways of leaving an air-hole when you are in really serious need of a toilet while still wearing your dry suit... This movie shows two main techniques. First is the seal technique and second is the rocket technique.
And now something for long-hose users. In the next film we will promote a VERY new long-hose style. This might be useful in very technical diving. Check it, try it but think twice before doing it... wrong ;)
and remember
You can always have fun trying to touch the bottom...
